Western Province back-row forward Justin Melck has been loaned to European giants Munster on a two-month deal.

The 25-year-old versatile ball-carrier, who has featured largely from the substitute's bench during this season's Currie Cup competition, has 45 WP caps to his name and has also turned out for the Stormers in the Super 14.

However, Melck struggled to nail down a starting position in southern hemisphere tournaments this year and with competition for places coming via Springboks Schalk Burger and Luke Watson, he has agreed to the short-term move to Ireland.
